CFG demands CBI probe in Apex Bank issue
Itanagar, Feb 06: The Citizen Grievances Forum (CFG) on Apex Bank here has expressed concern over Arunachal government's 'indifferent attitude' on reviving the ailing bank.
The CGF also demanded immediate for immediate CBI investigations as proposed by the state cabinet on October 2006.
In a letter to the chairman of the high powered committee constituted by the state government to work out on a revival strategy for the sick bank, the forum lamented.
Despite the cabinet decision of bringing in CBI, the government was directing district magistrates and bank authorities to implicate loans of the bank through sale of properties.
The CGF also drew the attention of the committee towards anamolies practiced by the bank authorities while granting loans to.
The forum also claimed that rates of interest charged were different for different people as some were charged interest rates as low as six to eight per cent while others were charged as high as above 12 per cent.
Stating that the working capital and public deposits amounted to worth Rs 45,193 crore so far, whereas, loans sanctioned under various lending facilities by the bank amounted to Rs 132 crore. They also alleged that the bank officials were hiding the names and firms of their kith and kins to whom loans were sanctioned and urged the state government to evolve a comprehensive guideline for revival of the sick bank through grant of special financial package.
