Cauvery Hitarakshana Horatta Samiti to appeal in SC
Mandya, Karnataka, Feb 6 (UNI) Cauvery Hitarakshana Horatta Samiti, spearheading the Cauvery water agitation in Karnataka, today decided to file an appeal before the Supreme Court against the final award pronounced by the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal yesterday.
Resolving not to accept the judgement, the mammoth meeting, convened to analyse the verdict, called for a united struggle in a peaceful manner to get justice for Karnataka.
The meeting was addressed by irrigation expert H N Nanje Gowda, retired judge Channabasappa and Parliamentarian Tejaswini Ramesh.
Mr Gowda opined that the tribunal members had not gone into the depth of the reality of the situation in Karnataka in respect of drinking water requirement and irrigation needs.
The meeting, held under the leadership of Samiti President G Made Gowda, decided to chalk out the course of future struggle after holding discussions with all MPs and party leaders and going through the order in detail.
