Ali died before his rescue from 80 feet deep well in Kashmir
Srinagar, Feb 6 (UNI) After struggling for more than 50-hours in a 80-foot-deep well in south Kashmir, Ali Mohammad Shah finally died this afternoon before he could be rescued.
Official sources said a number of attempts were made by the troops and civilians to rescue Shah from the well.
His Body was recovered this afternoon by a fire service official Gulzar Ahmad, sources said.
A soldier identified as Uttam Singh, who tried to go down into well, fell unconcious when he reached 40 feet. He was later pulled out with the help of a rope.
Another attempt was made by a civilian who also failed to reach Shah.
A police spokesman said one Ali Mohammad Shah fell into 80-foot- deep well at Gulgam village in Shopian yesterday morning when he was digging a tube-well.
He said army, police and civil administration were making all efforts to rescue Shah from the well.
The condition of Ali Mohammad was not immediately known, he said, adding that oxygen was being supplied inside the well through a pipe.
The Official sources said an expert tried to enter the well last evening after tying himself with a rope. However, he was pulled out after he complained of breathlessness problems.
