ABMCM celebrates 75th anniversary of Marathi talkie
Kolhapur, Feb 6 (UNI) The Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal (ABMCM) here today celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Marathi talkie films.
Kolhapur mayor Sai Kharade performed ''puja'' at the city's Kolekar Tikati where the Prabhat Film Company was initailly set up on June one, 1929.
The first Marathi talkie ''Ayodhecha Raje'' was released in the Krishna Cinema theatre in Mumbai on February six, 1932. That event completed 75 years today.
Later in the evening today, family members of the then Prabhat Film Company wre felicitated by Shivaji University vice chancellor Manikrao Salunkhe at a function hosted by the ABMCM. Veteran Marathi actress Shakuntala, who started her career as a child artiste with the Prabhat Film Company, was present on the occasion.
