Locals set afire police booth following road accident

Lucknow, Feb 5 (UNI) An agitated crowd set afire a police booth after a school girl was crushed to death in Maliahabd area of the state capital this morning.

The girl, Usha (15), a class 9th student of Mahatma Gandhi Inter college, was crossing the road when a speeding mini-truck mowed down. She died on the spot.

As the news spread, the local people blocked the road, indulged in vandalism and set afire the police booth and the mini-truck.

Fire Brigade tenders reached the spot to extuinguishe the fire. The agitating people calmed down following assurance of compensation from the administration.

The driver was arrested, police said.
