Kolkata, Feb 5 (UNI) Deterred from entering Singur following reimposition of prohibitory orders, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today once again called upon the Centre to intervene into the alleged police atrocities on women and minorities in West Bengal.

''I am sorry to say the Centre is not playing its role. Law and order is a state subject. But if minority people and women are attacked, the centre must intervene,'' Ms Banerjee told reporters hours after she cancelled her visit to Singur for a public meeting.

Flaying Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee for his ''shameless misdeed'' in clamping Section 144 Cr P C in and around Singur, the Trinamool supremo vowed to go ahead with her proposed 'Singur Chalo' programme on February ten.

''The promulgation of 144 CrPC is illegal, unconstitutional and politically motivated. We do not obey it. I shall go ahead with my Singur programme despite the prohibitory orders, '' she said.

The Trinamool chief announced that her party would put up road blockades for one hour throughout the state tomorrow in protest against the ''autocratic'' behaviour of the Left Front Government.

She also called upon the people, especially intellecutals to rise above political beliefs and participate in a procession in the city on February seven.

''This will be an apolitical procession, and if necessary, nobody will carry any party flag,'' she said.

Ms Banerjee alleged that the design of the administration in imposing the ten-day prohibitory orders was to enable the Chief Minister to address the proposed rally on February 15.

The prohibitory orders were reimposed early this morning following yesterday's clashes between police and members of Krishi Jami Raksha Committee at Singur.
