29 minor girls, 9 women rescued from brothels in AP

Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, Feb 5 (UNI) The district police today rescued 29 minor girls and nine women from various brothels in Vangapahad and Siddapuram villages in this district.

While, 41 house keepers of the prostitute dens were arested, six others were absconding. One Musuku Krishna, resident of Vangapahad, who forced a minor girl from East Godavari District into flesh trade after purchasing her from one Vijayawada-based broker for Rs 30,000, was also arrested.

Police said after getting complaints that many minor girls were being coerced into the flesh trade here, Superintendent of Police (SP) Soumya Mishra ordered a crackdown.

All the rescued were sent to MGM Hospital for age determination tests. They were later handed over to Women and Child Welfare Department for rehabilitation and accommodation.
