TDP, CPM to fight jointly against Congress in AP
Hyderabad, Feb 4 (UNI) The Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Communist Party of India (Marxist), an allay of the ruling Congress during the assembly elections, has come together to fight against the Congress.
The CPI(M), which strongly opposed the policies of the TDP government along with the Congress during its nine-year regime, had decided to fight against the ruling Congress government.
TDP, the main opposition in the state had reached an agreement with the CPI(M) to fight against the 'anti-poor' policies of the Congress government and to strengthen the base of the two parties in the districts where the Congress presence was strong.
The recent alliance between the two parties in the municipal elections and seat sharing in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) elections was an indication to make the alliance strong for the assembly elections in the state by 2009.
With the ruling Congress and CPI maintaining cordial relations, the leaders of the two parties wanted to keep the relations going to retain their seats in the next assembly elections.
