State Congress for changing regime of CPI(M): Dasmunsi
Midnapore, Feb 4 (UNI) Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi today observed that though the state Congress wants to change the political regime of CPI(M) in West Bengal, ''its hands are completely tied.'' Addressing a convention of West Midnapore district unit of youth Congress here, Mr Dasmunsi said many of the party members had joined the Trinamool and the major problem was that the Left Front government was supporting the UPA at the Centre. ''How is it possible to fight the CPI(M) here then?'' Mr Dasmunsi asked.
The Minister, however, said he was in favour of ending this ''impasse'' but did not elaborate.
Referring to Nandigram and Singur issues, he said the farmlands could not be snatched away from the peasants in the name of industrialisation.
He also accused the state government of introducing the West Bengal Development Corporation as a middleman to fulfil their ''ulterior'' motives. ''This is sheer trail of the peasants,'' he added.
Talking to mediapersons later, he also urged the government to publish 'White Papers' on the state's future industrialisation with detailed plans and programmes.
He also criticised Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee for ''stepping back'' from his words regarding the talks with Mamata Banerjee and Congress before starting fencing works at the proposed site of Tata's small car unit in Singur.
