Paswan advocates reservation in Judiciary and private sector
Patna, Feb 4 (UNI) Union Steel Fertiliser Minister Ramvilas Paswan today said the country will be under 'flames' if the backward section was not given reservation in the Judiciary and private sector.
Addressing a seminar on the role of dalits and oppressed sections in Bihar's development, Mr Paswan advocated the reservation of backward section in the private sector, saying they have adopted a 'wait and watch policy' and if they were deprived the country would be under flames.
The minister futher advocated reservation in the judiciary and suggested for holding Indian Judicary Services (IJS) examinations by the UPSC for appointment of judges in the High courts and the Supreme Court.
He said there was a great 'loss of merit' in the judiciary as any one having an experience of ten years of practice as a lawyer is eligible for being a judge.
He said once the all India level examination system was introduced the reservation would automatically be introduced in the judiciary.
Reacting on the issue of violation of Constitution by implementing the recomendations of Sachar committee and reservation to the Dalits, he said it was aimed to facilitate the participation of oppressed section in the corridors of power.
He also favoured reservation for the Dalit Muslims and Christians on the pattern of Mandal commission.
