Gala event to mark 40 yrs of Stuggart-Mumbai sis relations

Mumbai, Feb 4 (UNI) Stuttgart City in cooperation with the Indian Merchants Chamber is organizing a major event to celebrate its four-decade long sister city relationship with Mumbai very soon, according to Stuttgart's deputy Mayor Klaus-Peter Murawski.

Mr Murawski, accompanied by a team of senior executives of Stuttgart City Council, was addressing an interactive meeting with IMC leaders in Mumbai. They were felicitated by IMC President Nayan Patel and Mumbai Development Committee chairman Nanik Rupani.

Dr Patel stressed that the event should mark the beginning of a new productive in key areas like vocational training, education, healthcare and medicine, a release issued here said.

Deputy Mayor Murawski agreed that the suggestion would lead to a win-win situation as India needed higher technologies in both the areas and City of Stuttgart needed Indian talent and skilled manpower.

''Most skilled youngmen from our city have migrated to the United States, leaving helpless old folks behind,'' he remarked.

Mr Murawski said ''International competition in future will centre around environment issues like clean air, water, energy, and knowledge-based human skills. In view of this, we must shift emphasis on cooperation from the classical industrial economy-based areas like engineering, science and technology to natural sciences related to teaching and education, healthcare and managing geriatric problems.'' Turning to prospects of collaborating in areas of education, he said ''The blueprint for a child's brain development is drawn virtually before it reaches the age of six years. There is a vast scope for us to cooperate in this sector.'' ''And, I am in charge of disaster management issues in the Stuttgart city, and can extend assistance to Mumbai city, particularly in respect of disasters like fire, bio-weapons, terrorism, etc,'' he added.
