Dr Badrinath bags IMC Juran Quality Medal 2006

Mumbai, Feb 4: Dr S S Badrinath of Sankara Nethralya, Chennai has bagged the Indian Merchants' Chambers (IMC) 'Juran National Quality Medal 2006' for his lifetime achievement as a role model for his leadership in quality health care and his contribution to the field of social responsibility.

Three organisations -- Datamatics Technologies, Mumbai, National Education Society and Pt Indo Liberty -- have won the IMC Ramakrishna Bajaj National Quality Award 2006 each in their respective categories, a release here said.

The results of these keenly contested and eagerly awaited annual awards were announced yesterday by the panel of judges chaired by the Bajaj Group chairman Rahul Bajaj. The panel judges included Novartis chairman and managing director Ranjit Shahani, L N Welingkar Institute director Dr Uday N Salunkhe and Deloitte, Haskins&Sells' joint managing director Dileep Choksi.

The award in the service category went to Datamatics Technologies, Mumbai, while in the education category it went to National Education Society, Mumbai and in the overseas category, it went to P T Indo Liberty Textiles, West Java, Indonesia.

The IMC RBNQ certificates of merit were won by four companies in the manufacturing category: Apollo Fibres, Hoshiarpur; Vikrant Tyre Plant, J K Industries, Mysore; Bharat Petroleum Corporation refinery SBU, Mumbai; and Bihar Caustic and Chemicals, Palamau, the release added.
