Doha to organise craft mela on pattern of Surajkund
Chandigarh, Feb 4 (UNI) A craft mela on the pattern of the Surajkund Craft Mela would be organised next year at Doha, the capital of Qatar, wherein the outstanding craftsmen and artisans of India would also participate.
While announcing this today at a press conference held at the Surajkund Crafts Mela Complex, Hashan Ali Hussain Al-Nimah, Cultural Advisor to Amir of Qatar, said the art and culture of India are very ancient and these have its indelible impact on all cultures of the world.
Mr Hashan Ali Hussain Al-Nimah had visited the mela on the invitation of Haryana Tourism Minister Kiran Choudhry, who had given an invitation to His Excellency on her last visit to Doha in connection with the 15th Asian Games.
Describing the cordial relations between the two countries of India and Qatar, he said during an era of liberalisation, the relations of both these countries had been noted to be very strong and the economic as well as cultural bonds were also very congenial and friendly.
He said he had been an Ambassador of Qatar in India for a period of 14 years and was greatly impressed with the handicrafts, traditions, customs, arts and culture of India.
Speaking in the conference, Ms Choudhry said all necessary processes and formalities for organising a crafts mela at Doha would be performed by the Government of India. If the Government of India approves to organise a craft mela at Doha in principal then there would be no difficulty to organise a craft mela on the pattern of Surajkund Crafts Mela at Doha, she added.
