Best panchayat to get Rs 20 Lakh in Haryana

Chandigarh, Feb 4 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to provide a sum of Rs 20 lakh to those panchayat who would be adjudged first at the state level while a sum of Rs 15 lakh for second and Rs 10 lakh for third in the field of all-round rural development.

This was stated by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda while addressing the panches and sarpanches of Sirsa at a function organised here today.

The Chief Minister said with a view to visualising the dreams of former Prime Minister, Late Rajiv Gandhi, Haryana Government had decentralised the powers of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) in the state by delegating the powers of 10 departments to the Panchayats.

He said a special thrust was being given for the development of villages and government had decided to constitute Haryana Rural Development Authority on the pattern on Haryana Urban Development Authority so that the development of the villages could be ensured.
