Army to probe on fake encounter killings in JK
Srinagar, Feb 4: Defence authorities in Kashmir have ordered an inquiry into the alleged fake encounter killings of innocent persons in the valley, a defence spokesman said.
He said based on media reports about the alleged involvement of Army and Rashitriya Rifles (RR) in fake encounters in Ganderbal area, they army has ordered an inquiry to investigate these killings.
He said disciplinary action will be initiated if anyone is found guilty.
The order to investigate the fake encounter killings came after Jammu and Kashmir police arrested four police officials, including a Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hans Raj Parihar and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP-Operations) Ganderbal Bahadur Ram for allegedly killing some innocents in fake encounter in Ganderbal area.
The bodies of victims Showkat Ahmad Khatana son of Noor Khatana, a resident of Banihal in Doda district of Jammu region and Ghulam Nabi, resident of Kokernag in south Kashmir, Nazir Ahmad Dagga son of Abdul Rehman Dagga, only brother of seven sisters and Abdul Rehman Padder at Ganderbal were exhumed during the past two days by the police and samples taken for DNA mapping.
All the victims were identified by their relatives.
They were arrested from different parts of the city, killed in fake encounter and later labelled 'foreign militants' to get rewards from the government.
