Aged woman injured, property worth lakhs gutted

Varanasi, Feb 4 (UNI) An aged woman was burnt severely and property worth several lakhs was gutted after a raging inferno broke out at an auto parts godown here early today.

Police said the family of auto part dealer Suresh Badhya resided in a multi-storey building which also had a godown in the Ramapura locality under Luxa police station area.

A sudden inferno engulfed the godown this morning, in which Badhya's mother Parvati Devi (70) sustained serious burn injuries.

Besides, property worth lakhs of rupees was reduced to ashes.

The injured was rushed to a private hospital, where her condition was stated to be critical.

The fire, which is suspected to be caused by an electric short circuit, could only be doused after three hours by the fire brigade personnel, the police added.
