SAD will revoke guarantee to flow river water to Haryana-Rajasthan

Jalandhar, Feb 3 (UNI) The Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) today alleged that the present Congress government in Punjab has ''wrongly given a legal guarantee for the flow of Punjab's river waters to Haryana and Rajasthan and the SAD-BJP combine, if it came to power after the assembly election, would redress the ''grievous wrong done'' by the present government.

The party's manifesto, released by its President Parkash Singh Badal here, reiterated its demand for application of the riparian principle for deciding the dispute of river waters among Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan and stated that this principle had been accepted by all, including the Supreme Court.

The party alleged that the Congress led governments at the Centre as well as in Punjab had systematically violated the riparian principle.

It also alleged that the Amarinder Singh Government in Punjab, while passing the Punjab Termination of Agreements Act in the state assembly had given a legal guarantee to allow the flow of Punjab's river water to Haryana and Rajasthan and thereby, delivered its biggest blow to the interests of Punjab.

The SAD-BJP combine, if voted to power after the assembly election, would take political, legal and constitutional steps to redress this grievous wrong, the manifesto document assurred.
