Haryana to spend Rs 360 cr on Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan

Chandigarh, Feb 3 (UNI) The Haryana government will spend a sum of Rs 360 crore under Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan by the end of current financial year.

Of this amount, a sum of Rs 300 crore would be spent on providing better educational facilities including repair of buildings and construction of additional rooms in the schools, Mr Hooda said after releasing a calendar of Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan prepared by the Education Department here today.

The Chief Minister said that Haryana Government was committed to provide qualitative education to the students of the state and keeping this purpose in view a Rajiv Gandhi Education City was being set up in district Sonepat.

In this Education City, 25 per cent seats would be reserved for the students of the state. Out of 25 per cent students five per cent would be given free education while 10 per cent would have to pay 50 per cent fee and remaining 10 per cent students would avail the benefit of 25 per cent fee concession.

He said world renowed educational institutions in Bio-Technology, Nano-Technology, Engineering and Medical Sciences had been invited to set up their institutes in the upcoming education city.
