Rohtak, Feb 3 (UNI) Former Haryana minister and senior Congress leader Subhash Batra has sought security for himself and his family, claiming their lives were under threat.

In a letter to Haryana Director General of Police (DGP), Mr Batra said he was allegedly threatened by some unidentified man at a roadside dhaba on the National Highway No 10 in Rohtak district on February 1 when he had stopped there for dinner.

''I then immediately contacted the Superintendent of Police C S Rao on his mobile and informed him about the incident,'' the former home minister wrote in the letter and alleged that the police did not take any cognisance of his complaint and failed to reach there even after 40 minutes.

''However, realising that I have telephoned to the SP, these criminals left the dhaba in a huff,'' Mr Batra said and urged the state DGP to order an inquiry as as to why the police did not register his complaint.

He alleged that the police seemed to have turned a blind eye towards enforcing law and order in Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's home district-Rohtak.

''This incident speaks volumes about the crime in the area and the functioning of the law enforcing agency in the district,'' he added.
