Dismissed engineer chargesheeted in Kashmir
Srinagar, Feb 3 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation (VO) has produced challan in the court of anti-corruption against Mohammad Ramzan Nadaf, the former Executive Engineer Housing Board Ist for amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.
A VO spokesman said, the accused was found to have raised huge and manifold assets by abusing his official authority in different capacities.
He said the house of the accused was searched in July 2005 which led to the recovery of gold, cash, costly valuables, cars and bank and insurance details.
Nadaf had deposited a huge amount in his personal name and in the name of his dependants in different banks of the Valley.
The spokesman said the accused was also found to be in possession of insurance policies in his own name and that of his family members with huge deposits.
He said the extent of disproportionate assets was worked out to the tune of Rs 1,46 64,547.
The accused executive engineer, who has been already dismissed from the service, was present in the court at the time of the presentation of challan.
Meanwhile, the Vigilance also produced a challan against Assadullah Sheikh, the then storekeeper, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD), Mirpora, sale centre Beerwah, in the court of special judge anti-corruption yesterday.
The accused had misappropriated 335.34 quintals of Rice (IR-8 Variety) and 1296 empty gunny bags valued Rs 2,93,039 during his posting in the sale centre.
