AP Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee seeks CBI probe

Hyderabad, Feb 3 (UNI) The state unit of Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee of India today urged President A P J Abdul Kalam to instruct the government to conduct a CBI enquiry into the alleged attack on the Madrasa Jamitul Salihat and sexual harrasment and gang rape of two girl students in Allahabad last month.

President and General Secretary of the Committee Rehana Sultana and Lateef Mohd Khan said in a statement they had submitted a memorandum to the President through the Governor of Andhra Pradesh requesting to intervene into the incident, for the sake of the justice and humanity.

They also urged the President to provide security to the victim girls and their family members and the Manager of the Madrasa and instructed the Centre to take security measures for the protection of girl students.

They said it was important that proper action be taken not only for interest of the safety and integrity of the nation but for the respect and dignity of humanity and women as well.
