3 accused in a murder case arrested by SAfrican police

Kaithal, Haryana, Feb 2 (UNI) Three people, wanted in a murder case here, have been arrested by South African police from Booysens area of Johannesburg.

District Police Chief Navdeep Singh Virk told mediapersons here that said the three were arrested from a hideout on January 31. Presently they are lodged in a Johannesburg jail.

The criminals, identified as Baljit Singh alias Jeeta, who carries a reward of Rs one lakh, Joginder, carrying a reward of Rs 75,000, and Surender had allegedly murdered a local plywood dealer who refused to pay them extortion money, the police said.

They later fled to South Africa and started making extortion calls to other businessmen here.

The Interpol issued a Red Corner notice against the three on the request of Haryana police, following which the South African police traced them and arrested them.

A team of Haryana police, led by an IG will be going to South Africa to begin the extradition proceedings for the three.
