Mumbai, Feb 2 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today admitted that the result of the ten municipal corporations would have been much different if there was an alliance of all the 'secular' parties'.

Reacting to the verdict of the corporations, Mr Deshmukh said Congress has got the highest number of seats in the elections held for the corporations.

Congress had emerged as the single largest party in four corporations namely Solapur, Amravati, Akola and Nasik, he added.

''Congress will try to come to power in these four corporations with the help of like-minded parties,'' he said.

Congress and NCP did not have an alliance in any of the ten corporations barring Akola while all the factions of Republican Party of India had contested against Congress.

However, NCP and RPI(A) share power with Congress in the State and at the Centre.
