SS-BJP alliance win 40 seats in Nashik civic polls
Nashik, Feb 2 (UNI) The ruling Shiv Sena (SS)-BJP alliance have captured 40 out of the 108 seats in the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC), the results of which were declared today.
The Congress and NCP, who contested these elections on their own, have captured 38 seats jointly. Of this, Congress secured 21 seats while NCP got only 17 seats.
The newly floated Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) won 12 seats.
Independents have got 10 seats here.
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) won three and one seat respectively. RPI secured two seats, Lok Jan Shakti one seat and PWP one in this poll.
A total of 787 candidates contested for 108 seats.
Only 60 per cent voters cast their franchise in the elections.
