Sangam stages demo, demands teachers promotion
Chennai, Feb 2 (UNI) Members of the Tamil Nadu Idainilai Asiriyar Sangam (Secondary Grade Teachers Association) today staged a demonstration demanding to induct 'idainilai' teachers as school assistant teachers.
Talking to newspersons here Sangam state general secretary A Subramanian said there were 25,000 secondary grade teachers working in high schools and higher secondary schools, conducting classes from standard six to eight in the state for the past 35 years without any promotion.
However, similar secondary grade teachers working in elementary schools got promotions, he claimed and added that simply because they were working in HSs and HSSs, they were left out of promotion.
It was high time the government considered their 'just and reasonable' demand, he said and urged Chief Minister M Karunanidhi in this regard.
