Repoll in a booth due to faulty EVM

Mumbai, Feb 2 (UNI) Faulty electronic voting machines have necessitated repolling in a booth situated in Mumbai's ward number 217 on February 4.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner Vijay Kalam Patil, who is the election officer, told reporters that the EVMs used in booth number five at Madhav Baug, Durgadevi Udyan in Bhuleshwar, South Mumbai were found faulty. The machines were not functioning when the counting of votes were taken up.

The State Election Commission was informed and repolling was ordered to be held on Sunday. The counting of votes will be taken up immediately after the close of polling and the result will be declared in the evening.

In one of the EVMs, 411 votes were registered and in the second one only seven votes were registered, he added.
