Raj Thackeray makes his presence felt in seven corporations

Mumbai, Feb 2 (UNI) Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray has managed to make his presence felt in the seven of the ten corporations in the state that went to polls, despite being unable to make inroads into the citadel of Shiv Sena-BJP alliance in Mumbai and Thane Municipal Corporation.

After leaving the Sena in December 2005, Raj Thackeray had floated his own outfit and fielded candidates in all the ten municipal corporations.

His party achieved major success by winning 12 seats in Nashik polls and is expected to play a key role in this corporation.

Sena-BJP combine has won 40 seats while Congress-NCP got 38.

MNS did well in Pune Municipal Corporation too and bagged eight seats. In Nagpur, the party got two, Akola one, Nagpur two, Ulhas nagar two, Thane three and in Mumbai, it could get seven seats.
