Private screening of 'Parzania' in Gujarat on Monday
Ahmedabad, Feb 2 (UNI) The decks have been finally cleared for the private screening of the controversial film 'Parzania' in the city on Monday for exhibitors and select people from cross sections of society with the sole aim of releasing the film across Gujarat.
Addressing mediapersons here today, the film's director Rahul Dholakia said 'Parzania' was withheld in Gujarat on January 26 despite being released across the country, due to the rigid stand taken by the exhibitors who stated that ''We will not screen it until we see the movie.'' He said the censor board had given its nod to the film under the 'A' certificate to release it countrywide.
Dholakia said he will be meeting the Multiplex Association President Manubhai Patel this evening to decide the venue where the film's print will be privately screened on Monday.
When asked about the security of cinema halls and viewers in view of threats existing for its release, he said if such a situation arises, the exhibitors will seek protection from the government.
'Parzania' portrays the devastating story of a family caught in the vortex of violence unleashed on innocent people of Gujarat in 2002 and stars Naseeruddin Shah and Sarika in lead roles.
