Pondy admn to provide fin aid to small traders

Puducherry, Feb 2 (UNI) The Puducherry administration has decided to provide financial assistance to small businessmen here to expand their units, Industries Minister V Vaithilingam said today.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the loan-linked subsidy would be provided through the District Industries Centre (DIC) to those running tailoring shops, tea stalls, beauty parlours and laundries.

Loan ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 200,000 with a subsidy component from Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000 would be extended to the applicants. The loan would be provided to 625 persons in Puducherry, 300 in Karaikal 50 in Mahe and 25 in Yanam before the end of the current financial year.

The applications received by the DIC would be scrutinised and forwarded to nationalised banks for getting the loan.
