PM security breach case: cop suspended but no case yet
New Delhi, Feb 2 (UNI) Delhi Traffic Police constable who allegedly tried to enter the Prime Minister's residence last evening has been suspended from service but no formal case has yet been registered against him.
Constable Bhurra Singh, who allegedly tried to enter Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's official residence at 7 Race Course Road in Central Delhi at around 2000 hrs yesterday, had been placed under suspension but no case was registered in the connection so far, police said today.
Singh had allegedly tried to enter the high security premises reportedly under the influence of alcohol but was stopped by the SPG personnel posted outside.
It was claimed that there was no trespassing as the constable was on the road outside the Prime Minister's residence.
Singh was later taken to South Avenue Police Station where officers of Special Protection Group and central security agencies were interrogating him.
This is the second case in the last eight months when an attempt has been made to breach the security set-up at the high security complex.
On July 22 last, two young women and a man had unsuccessfully tried to enter the PM's residence.
