Srinagar, Feb 2 (UNI) Hundreds of National Conference (NC) leaders and workers today again took to streets in the city to protest against alleged increase in the Human Rights (HR) violations.

Protesting against the HR violations, the NC processionists marched from the party headquarters at Zero Bridge and dispersed peacefully at Polo ground near here.

They were demanding immediate arrest of the other police officials involved in the custodial killing of Abdul Rehman Paddar.

Raising slogans to bring the killers to book, they alleged that the HR violations have increased during the coalition government in the state.

A number of senior leaders, who addressed the gathering, alleged that government has failed to check the security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police who are committing excesses without any check.

They said extortion, killings in fake encounter and random arrests was a daily routine in the valley where security forces are enjoying unprecedented powers under different acts to curb the civilian activities.

Earlier, the NC, the main opposition party in the state, had made announcements that party president Omar Abdullah will address workers at its headquarters to highlight the HR violations.

However, he did not turn up.

Yesterday, similar procession was taken out by the women wing of the NC against the killing of Paddar and other HR violations.
