Narcotic syndicate busted, 5 arrested with 35 kg 'charas'

Kanpur, Feb 2 (UNI) Police here busted a narcotic syndicate with the arrest of five persons, including a woman, and seizure of a large quantity of 'charas' estimated at Rs 24 lakh.

Kanpur SSP Alok Singh said here yesterday, acting on a tip-off, cops raided a place at Jarauli area in Barra area and arrested Vinod Kumar, Ram Kumar, Siddha Gopal, Chhiddu and Reshma.

About 35 kg 'charas' was seized from their possession.

Mr Singh informed that the gang operated in several districts of Uttar Pradesh, supplying the psychotropic substance to their contacts.

Meanwhile, police teams have been sent to other areas to arrest other members of the racket.

DIG Daljit Singh Chaudhary announced Rs 5,000 reward to the police team. The SSP also announced an additional reward of Rs 2,500 to the cops.
