MP cops knocked out of Gold Cup

Guna, MP, Feb 2 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Police, Bhopal, bowed out of contention in the 34th All-India Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial Gold Cup Hockey Tournament underway here after losing 0-3 to Western Railway, Kota.

The railwaymen exerted pressure on the cops from the beginning of the encounter at the Sanjay Gandhi Stadium. Forward Zulfikar (2) and Centre-Half Mohammad Atiq (1) were the scorers. Bhopal could not capitalise on even one of four penalty corners.

In another match of the tournament's third day, Jammu Police pipped organisers Municipal Council, Guna, 4-0 to advance to the next round. Sai Sports Club, Saifai, were knocked out 0-5 by the Artillery Centre, Hyderabad.
