Maharashtra election results disappointing: Cong
New Delhi, Feb 2: Describing the results of the elections to Mumbai and other municipal corporations in Maharashtra as 'somewhat disappointing,' the Congress today attributed it to the division in secular votes, but added that post poll scenario holds several possibilities.
"Post poll possibilities leave all options open," Congress Spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said, adding "Realignment of like-minded political forces is not ruled out. I am not ruling out anything. We tried our best to prevent division of secular votes," he told reporters here. "Every attempt was made by the Congress to ensure consolidation of secular votes. But you can not clap with one hand." He said in the local polls division of votes must be avoided.
Stating that there was no clear verdict in several municipalities where it was a fractured verdict, Mr Singhvi said, "Have patience and wait for the complete results. Post poll possibilities leave all options open. Six municipal areas have divided profile." Replying to a question, the Spokesman said the party would carry out a post mortem of election results and do introspections at the party forum after all the results were out.
