Life term for blackmailer in Rajasthan

Ajmer, Feb 2: A fast track court here has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for being the mastermind behind the infamous photo blackmailing scandal of 1992.

The court also slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 on Farookh Chisti.

The court had sentenced eight other accused to life term for the blackmailing scandal in 1998 but as Farookh Chisti was found to be mentally unstable, the High Court had directed separate hearings for him.

Farookh, the then president of Youth Congress of the district, along with accomplices used farmhouses around Ajmer for luring girls into the sex racket by clicking their nude photographs.

On the ground of mental illness, Farookh was bailed out in April 2000. Later in January 2003, proceedings were started against him as he was found to be fit. He was caught with heroine worth Rs 24 crore in Surat in 2003.
