Jammu, Feb 2 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir expects Rs 2,100 crore revenue from fruit exports during the current financial year, as against Rs 1,900 crore in FY'06.

''During this year, state expects Rs 2,100 crore revenue from export of fresh and dry fruits as against Rs 1,900 crore during last year,'' Horticulture Minister Mohammad Dilawar Mir informed the state assembly.

Mr Mir said under market intervention scheme the cost of C-grade apple had increased and growers were advised to improve the grading of fruit especially apple.

He said fruit mandis would be constructed in areas that are devoid of such facilities and added that attention was also being paid towards provision of cold storage facilities to the growers and forwarding agents.

Fresh and dry fruits like apples, almonds and walnuts produced in the state have a great market demand.
