Annual rate of Inflation shoots off to 6.11pc
New Delhi, Feb 2: The annual rate of inflation crossed the six per cent mark for the second time in the past three weeks to 6.11 per cent for the week ended January 20 after slowing down to 5.95 per cent last week.
Higher prices of manufactured products and foods were the reasons for the rise.
Concerned over the surging inflation, the Reserve Bank of India this week hiked the short-term repo rate by 0.25 per cent to 7.5 per cent to infuse liquidity in the system.
Inflation rate for the week ended January 13 stood at a two-year high of 6.12 per cent.
The inflation rate, calculated on a point-to-point basis, stood at 4.24 per cent during the corresponding week of the previous year.
