Govt releases 4 lakh tonnes wheat for open market for Feb-Mar
New Delhi, Feb 2 (UNI) Keeping in view the recent increase in retail prices of wheat in some consuming centres across the country, Government has decided to release up to four lakh tonnes of wheat in February and March 2007, under the Open Market Sale Scheme (Domestic).
The sale of wheat would be targeted at those centres which are recording high retail prices of flour, a Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution statement said here today.
The wheat will be sold by the Food Corporation of India (FCI), which has been asked to work out modalities of sale, including quantity, to be offered at different centres.
