EC notice to Johar for alleged violation of code
Chandigarh, Feb 1 (UNI) The Election Commission has sent a notice to Punjab Public Health Minister and Congress candidate from Ludhiana West, Harnam Dass Johar, for allegedly violating the model code of conduct.
The EC has sought reply from the Minister by February 3.
It had received complaints with photographs, which allegedly showed supporters of Mr Johar in a procession while he was going to file his nomination papers, a spokesman of the Election Office said here.
Besides, Mr Johar and his supporters had entered the office of Returning Officer and shouted slogans there. They hda also affixed posters and big boards in Model Town, Shastri Nagar and Raj Guru Nagar areas in Ludhiana resulting in serious violation of the code.
Mr Johar is locked in a 12-cornered contest in the Ludhiana West Assembly constituency.
