DySP booked for demanding Rs one lakh bribe

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Feb 2 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today registered an offence against Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Vijay Mahale on charges of seeking a bribe of Rs one lakh from an accused in a dacoity case.

An official release by the ACB said, DySP Vijay Mahale, presently posted at Kalam in Osmanabad district has been booked under sections 7, 13 (2) of the Anti Corruption Act 1988 for demanding a bribe of Rs one lakh for not filing a chargesheet in the court against an accused involved in a dacoity case.

Investigations revealed that Mahale had allegedly demanded the bribe from the accused over telephone on August 23 and 24 last year.

An offence has been registered against Mahale at the Kalamb police station. Police Inspector K L Najan is probing the matter, the release added.
