Dow rises to record at open after jobs report
NEW YORK, Feb 2 (Reuters) US stocks rose on Friday, and the Dow hit a fresh lifetime high, after a report showing weaker-than-expected January job growth suggested that the Federal Reserve may have room to keep interest rates steady.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 8.41 points, or 0.07 percent, at 12,682.09. The Standard&Poor's 500 Index was up 1.63 points, or 0.11 percent, at 1,447.57. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 6.70 points, or 0.27 percent, at 2,475.08.
The Dow rose to a fresh all-time high of 12,683.21 in early trading.
