Counting of votes suspended in Thane

Thane, Feb 2 (UNI) Counting of votes in Vartak Nagar area of Thane has been suspended following clashes between two candidates today.

According to sources, Shiv Rajya Party candidate Ms Sudha Chavan and Mr Sitaram Rane of Congress clashed over the issue of sealing of ballot boxes, which led to the suspension of counting.

The latest party position of results declared in the Thane Municipal Corporation elections is as following : Shiv Sena - 24 Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) - 4 Congress - 2 Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) - 15 Maharashtra Navnirman Sena(MNS) - 1 Samajwadi Party(SP) - 3 Independents - 6.
