Another fake encounter victim's body exhumed for DNA test in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 2 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police today exhumed the body of another fake encounter victim at Saloora Ganderbal, about 30 km from here, for taking samples for DNA mapping.

Massive protest against fake encounter killing again rocked Ganderbal today forcing police to fire teargas shells to disperse them.

The victim Nazir Ahmad Dagga son of Abdul Rehman Dagga, a resident of Kokernag in south Kashmir was identified by his wife Tasleema and other family members.

This was the second body exhumed by the police in the area during the past 24 hours.

Yesterday a team from the Chandigarh-based Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) exhumed the body of Abdul Rehman Padder, who was allegedly killed in a fake encounter, and took samples for DNA mapping.

Several senior Jammu and Kashmir police and civil officials besides the magistrate, the health officer, witnesses and family members were also present at the time of exhumation of the body.

The family members alleged that Nazir, only brother of seven sisters, was picked up by the Special Operation Group (SOG) of state police from Lal Chowk area on February 15, 2006.

A senior police officer said they want to conduct the inquiry so that the truth comes out and guilty are punished.

Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, Bashir Ahmad Khan had already ordered exhumation of Padder and Nazir's bodies for conducting the DNA test.

Police fired teargas shells and also resorted to baton charge to disperse strong mob protesting against the fake encounter killings at Ganderbal.

The mob shouted slogans against the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and state administration.

Police have already arrested two police personnel and held two senior officers for their alleged involvement in the fake encounters.
