ALH of Sarang team crashes

Bangalore, Feb 2 (UNI) An Advanced Light Helicopter of the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited crashed while rehearsing for the coming Aero Show, killing the co-pilot and seriously injuring the pilot at Yelahanka on the outskirts of the city today.

According to official sources, the incident occurred at about 0915 hrs when a Sarang display team was practicing for the grand aviation event, to be held here from February seven to 11. The crash was attributed to the helicopter losing height.

Though the two pilots were rushed to the hospital, co-pilot Sqn Ldr Priye Sharma breathed his last at the hospital and the condition of pilot Wg Cdr V Jaitley, who had sustained head injuries, was stated to be serious.

A court of inquiry was ordered into the mishap, the sources said.
