AIBEA pledges support to Central Bank staff strike call
Chennai, Feb 2 (UNI) All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) Mr General secretary C H Venkatachalam today said they would extend their full support to all struggle programmes at Central Bank Of India and called upon all bank employees and officers to make the All India Bank Strike a success.
In a statement here, Mr Venkatachalam said the agitation called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) will be held on February 23 in support of Central Bank employees strike beginning February 22.
He said 40,000 employees and officers at all 3,300 branches and offices of the Central Bank Of India will go on strike from February 22 in protest against the 'attack by bank management on basic trade union rights to go on strike and vindictive punishment to 7,000 employees and officers for participating in it.
Mr Venkatachalam, who is also the general secretary of the All India Central Bank Employees Federation, said since this was a very serious attack on the fundamental right of the trade unions and amounted to an open challenge, the UFBU had given a call for the All India Strike on February 23.
