Jabalpur, Feb 2 (UNI) Forty-five new sub-stations are being set up at various places in Madhya Pradesh with the assistance of Asian Development Bank and Power Finance Corporation in view of the availability of 9,000 MW power in the state in the next 2-3 years.

Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Limited (MPPTCL) Chairman-cum-Managing Director R K Verma said 15 extra high-tension (EHT) sub-stations of 220 KV and 30 EHT sub-stations of 132 KV will be set up.

''These sub-stations will be linked with extra high-tension transmission lines,'' he said.

He said Canara Bank and other financial institutions had come forward and offered to extend financial cooperation to the company's schemes in view of its remarkable performance.

Mr Verma said 10 capacitor banks were being installed at sub-stations in MACT Bhopal, Narsinghpur, and Tikamgarh, while the process had been completed in Mehgaon and Shivpuri.

Construction of 220 KV Birsingpur-Jabalpur Line and 220 KV Line for power transmission from the Omkareshwar hydel station were among four major challenges before the company.

Linking 765 KV system of Power Grid Corporation's three inter-connecting lines to Seoni-based 220 KV sub-station was another challenge.

Besides, re-construction of double-circuit lines from 400 KV system of Gwalior-based Power Corporation of India's sub-station to Gwalior-Malanpur 220 KV sub-station was also a major challenge.

He hoped the task would be completed in next two months.
