19 killed, 20 injured in minibus accident in Rajouri

Jammu, Feb 2 (UNI) At least 19 passengers were killed today and 20 others injured when a minibus fell into a gorge near Nowshera in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

The overcrowded 22-seater minibus was on its way to Nowshera from Sial when it rolled down into a 50-feet gorge at Dabbar, six km from Nowshera, police said.

The victims were immediately shifted to the nearby sub-district hospital, Nowshera.

Fifteen critically injured were airlifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu.

The driver of the minibus also died in the accident.

Meanwhile, four people were injured when the truck carrying them fell into a nullah on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway at Mahar in Doda district's Ramban area, police said.
