Winderginie to start MI-171 Chopper service in Orissa

Bhubaneswar, Feb 01 (UNI) Wonder Aviation, a unit of Rajsthan-based Wondergenie Group will launch aviation service in Orissa to promote tourism sector and meet the growing demand for more inland transport service following huge investment offers in steel and other sectors.

Wonder Aviation Managing Director Col Ajai Saxsena here yesterday said for the first time a helicopter service to fly passengers to different inland destinations in Orissa would be introduced from February nine.

He said initially the flight would be launched between Bhubneswar Keonjhar-Barbil routs and back but later the service would be extended to other locations such as Bhubaneswar-Angul-Jharsuguda -Rourkela routes in the second phase.

Mr Saxsena said the service would be rendered by a Ml-172 helicopter with a capacity of 26 seats and a large luggage hold. The twin-engine machine would be flown by two pilots, ensuring greater safety.

He claimed that the helicopter service would be a low cost and cater to all classes of people - businessmen, executives, tourists, and even common travelers.

Besides passenger flights, the craft would be given on charter to groups comprising tourists or business travelers to other destinations like Paradip, Jajpur or other tourist places, the Wonder Aviation Managing Director said adding necessary permission from Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for operating the helicopter service had already been obtained.

The company he said would also render service to the rescue and relief operation during natural calamities. It has also plans to start a commercial pilot training course in Bhubaneswar in later phase.
