WII takes up jatropha oil prod in Chhattisgarh

New Delhi, Feb 1 (UNI) Winrock International India (WII), a non-profit organisation, in associtaion with British High Commission and Ministry of Renewable Energy has taken up a pilot project to produce jatropha oil in village Bairakh in Chhattisgarh.

''The project to design, develop and implement a community centric bio-plant has been undertaken to come up with a promising renewable energy option for the future,'' Winrock Vice President Somnath Bhattacharjee told reporters here today.

He said the WII has planted 30,000 saplings in the village to produce bio-fuel which can further be used in diesel generating sets.

''We have also bring in Castrol which will help develop improved formulation of oil,'' Mr Bhattacharjee said.
