Voting for Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporations begins
Pune, Feb 1 (UNI) Voting for the 144 wards of Pune Municipal Corporation(PMC) and 105 wards of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation(PCMC) started today at 0730 hrs amid tight security.
As many as 26,20,879 voters of the PMC and PCMC will decide the fate of 1,824 candidates who are trying their luck in the polls.
According to election office here, the voter turnout was brisk in some areas.
Meanwhile, among election related offences, the city police have registered 81 cases against candidates of various political parties, Independents and their supporters. These include cases for using more than three vehicles and installing loudspeakers for campaigning without obtaining permission of the Returning Officer, city control informed here.
